The Infant Soul

By the time the infant appears on a planet for the first time, it has been on its own in the universe for a while. It has spent ‘time’ considering several planets before settling on the chosen one. Then, it has examined the planet of choice and may have investigated several different animal or even plant species [by cohabiting within several varieties, for instance] in it’s analysis before settling on the planet it will inhabit for the next few thousand years.
By the way, this 'cohabiting' is not the same as transmigration—though it may seem to be so. However, karma cannot be collected at this point and such cohabitation is purely research-oriented in nature—it has nothing to do with the development of the soul. That is what differentiates it from transmigration as such.

The soul is, after all, making a big investment here— committing itself to numerous lifetimes over several hundreds of years as a sentient being on the planet and, unless it is a very rash soul, indeed, it wants to be certain this is a good fit. As a result, when it finally takes it’s first human body, it has probably moved into a fairly instinctive mode of existence. This comes about as a result of the choice of forgetting where we came from.
This choosing to forget comes in handy as remembering previous lifetimes would be cumbersome at best. I'll go into that more in later posts. For now, suffice to say, would you really want to know about crimes you committed in medieval times [and the resulting karma you have or have not paid]? My answer to that question is a resounding, 'NO!'

The Soul has also chosen its ROLE [more on roles in later posts] and spent 'time' creating its first body and its first personality. If it is wise it will take counsel with other, more experienced souls as these are all daunting tasks—particularly for an inexperienced, relatively new soul still learning the ropes.
xxx
The early Infant Soul is somewhat raw and non-defined when it arrives on the planet as a fully sentient being for the first time. It can look fairly primitive and not-quite-pulled-together. The individual often looks furtive or frightened.

The lessons for the Infant are primarily those of physical survival and, as a result, Infants tend to cluster near the equator where the weather, at any rate, will not increase the difficulties involved in survival.
However, because infants tend to cluster there, they are easy prey for unscrupulous older Souls and dictators—not to mention wild animals and diseases. Lives can be brutish and short with Infants experiencing every type of survival test imaginable.
Infants learn how to find food and water, build shelters, and the very earliest lessons in collaboration with other people. They haven’t yet learned how to work cooperatively with others and any favors they do for others are strictly of the tit-for-tat variety. They may be loners as this method of meeting the new environment tends to feel safer than spending a lot of time with other people.
Eating is a matter of survival and has nothing to do with pleasure beyond the sensation of a full belly—something which is, in fact, not often achieved.
Similarly, sex is practiced as a survival mechanism. Sexual pleasure is not yet attainable—only the assuaging of lust.

On the positive side, infant souls can be very attuned to nature. They resonate closely within their own small group—family or small tribe—and experience the group consciousness more clearly than they will again until they have graduated from the planet. They have the ability, all too soon forgotten, of living in the moment.

Old souls sometimes will opt to go to these equatorial zones to help the infants there learn the basics. They may take on the roles of shamans and healers and will be venerated by the trusting Infant Souls in residence.
Unfortunately, sometimes Young Souls [see later post] will incarnate there and take advantage of the population. That is often the case when dictators take over and terrorize the general populace. [Think Saddam Hussein—a young soul in the currently transitioning (infant-to-baby) country of Iraq. Or, for that matter, GW Bush (a mid-to-late Baby Soul, I'm almost certain,) in Iraq.]

The conscience is not yet fully integrated in Infant Souls and, in the rare instance when an Infant takes on a life in a sophisticated country like the US, for instance, it is likely to run afoul of the law due to this lack. Although these souls may inflict great pain on others [usually on a one-to-one level—not one of brutalizing large groups of people—they’re generally not sophisticated enough to pull off a major crime spree, yet], their actions are often brought about by fear rather than true malice. Even so, this is a time of opening and creating karmic ties of the violent variety whether as victim or perpetrator.

why would an infant soul be inclined to cluster to the equator if they are only souls and not attuned to the feelings of warmth from the sun? And if they are floating around checking out the best place to survive, why go to a place where survival is limited due to hunger, lack of water, war, and a primitive lifestyle? I would think they would be more likely to want to survive in a place where there is shelter, food, and a more peaceful existence.

Infants learn how to find food and water, build shelters, and the very earliest lessons in collaboration with other people.

Wait a minute, you lost me. Are you saying that infants or infant souls are learning to find food and water and build shelters? If they are infant souls...how do they build shelters and find food without a body and why do they need shelter and food if they are only souls?

Am I missing something?

This isn't meant to be argumentative, but I'm not sure where this is coming from.

Just stopped by to let you know I love your blogs.

two crows- Wait..I just re-read my comment and it didn't come out right. When I said "where is this coming from", I was wondering from which writings. There was Seth and another one. That's what I meant..which book that had this information. I plan on buying the books that you put up so I can read up on this stuff more.

I certainly didn't mean it to me disrespectful, and I'm afraid that's what it sounded like. I really need to work on my writing skills. :-)

huh?
now, you've lost me, Mary Ellen.

these are souls who are, for the first time, in _bodies_. that's why they need food, water and shelter--
and they're not yet skilled at getting those things they'll need if they're going to survive _in_their_bodies_.

the SOUL will, of course, survive forever. but, if it wants to play the physical game, it has to learn the rules.
[why we even want to, I sometimes wonder-- but that is the choice we made before we started.]

as I outlined in the earlier post about the pre-infant phase, we made that decision 1st: we chose to take the physical route [not all souls do].

now, we're boots-on-the-ground.
in fact, I guess that's a pretty good analogy: the Infant Soul Age is boot-camp where we learn what we need to know in order to survive when we go to war.
does that clear things up?
***
as to it being the easiest place to survive:
to an infant soul, holding down a job, driving a car, balancing a checkbook and surviving while the people around you are shooting at each other all look equally threatening to the infant soul before they get into their first body.

and, primitive societies don't have most of those scary elements in them.

oh, sure, occasionally an infant shows up in the US. if they do, you'll usually find them in the back woods just trying not to draw attention to themselves while they figure out how to survive by hunting and fishing and growing enough food to subsist on.

thanks minnesotablue. I love having you here, too. :)

two crows- okee dokee...gotcha now. I should have read the previous post more carefully. :-)

hi, Mary Ellen--
if you want to read the sources, I highly recommend _The World According to Michael_ by Joya Pope as an introduction to this stuff.
it outlines the most basic teachings concerning things like soul ages, levels within each age, roles, overleaves, etc.

after that, _The Michael Game_ an anthology written by 'The Michael Group' is a good 2nd book, imo. it covers a broad range of issues over and above the human stuff.

there is something by Shepherd Hoodwin that is very good. I have a copy of the original manuscript. its title at the time was _The Journey of Your Soul_ and it may well have been published under that title. I don't know.

after that, _Michael, The Basic Teachings_ by Aaron Christeaan, JP Van Hulle and MC Clark
or
_Tao to Earth_ by Jose Stevens is good, too.
[btw-- _Earth to Tao_ [also by Stevens] is considerably harder to get through. I'm still struggling with it.
xxx
_Seth Speaks_ by Jane Roberts is good for a more comprehensive look at a broader range of topics than many of the Michael books tackle [its range is probably somewhere between _Tao to Earth_ and _Earth to Tao_.]

as to _An Alternate Reality_ by Roberts -- nnnnnhhhhhhh -- fug-ged-aboudit!!!

I pick it up when I'm feeling REALLY on top of my game. and I read until I reach 'TILT!' and put it down till the next time I'm feeling very, very brave.
:)

Holy cow, that's a lot of reading! I think I'll start from the beginning and maybe by the time I'm down to the last book, I'll be reading it when I'm eating my 70th birthday party cake.

Thanks for the list.

two crows said...

hi again, Mary Ellen--
oh yeah, the ones I listed here are the tip of the iceberg!

some others that are, imo, ones to just kick back with and enjoy would be:
_More Lives Than One?_ by Jeffrey Iverson, _Life Between Life_ by Joel Whitton and Joe Fisher, and _Life After Life_ by Raymond Moody.

you might want to sandwich some of the more lightweight stuff between the Michael and Seth stuff, jfwiw.
xxx
and, btw--- DID you ever get _The Handmaid's Tale_ by Atwood??? just curious. [not that it is _light_ by any stretch of the imagination--- but at least it's fiction. . . . :)

Mary Ellen said...

two crows- No, I never got the Handmaid's Tale. I asked for it for Christmas, but as usual, my list was ignored!

I'll start out very small and light on that reading you suggested. I guess it can't be much more difficult to read than the Old Testament, eh?

Oh..I sent you a couple of e-mails, did you get them?

two crows said...

oh, easier by far than the Old Testament, imnsho, Mary Ellen. and without all the contradictions and inconsistencies. that's nice, too.

Beautiful picture and interesting post. To me this is just Purgatory and whence you go from here can be up yo but not necessarily!

two crows said...

hi, AAP--
purgatory, huh? I have heard that opinion before. it's an interesting possibility.

the physical is such an uncomfortable, yucky place to be for most of us, the idea that it's purgatory does have a certain logic to it.

two crows...or anyone else who has soul level insight. I'm looking for some understanding of my brother. I have a lot of understanding of Michael teachings esp. related to mature souls and older souls as those are who I spend time with. My brother, seems to fit a profile of a sociopath or psychopath. Not terribly violent or dangerous, but verbally abusive and angry if his survival is in any way threatened, he has not been able to hold down a job, and is a parapalegic due to throwing himself over an over pass after taking drugs. I used to think he was a young or mature soul, due to being super smart, but his intelligence does not lead to productivity. I'm thinking he is an infant soul. He does love eating, so he is enjoying that and is somewhat addicted to entertainment. Overall, keeps to himself, spends some time in nature, does not seem capable of giving back at all (affection is purely cursory)... had a very cushy childhood replete with love and things and does not seem a product of the better-than-average parenting we received. He is smart enough to lie well, but too capricious to maintain the cover up. He is low affect, unless angry. He seems to be a bit anchored by me (old soul), but causes so much collateral damage, hard to tell if any love directed his way helps. My Mom(early mature soul) took care of him for decades and then fell apart into schizophrenic state.

hi, Yantra, and welcome to AtI.
wow. your brother SOUNDS like an infant but, of course, there are a lot of other factors at play as well.

have you thought about getting a reading from a Michael channel? that might shed some light on his situation and give you some insight in how best to help him move forward.

fwiw - I've had a few readings by Joya Pope [she wrote The World According to Michael]. they helped me figure out a lot of stuff.

Thank you two crows regarding my possibly infant soul brother. I like that you said "how to help him move forward." So compassionate. I reading would be good for me, haven't done it.

two crows said...

hi again, Yantra. glad you stopped back by.

if you can't afford a reading - they are pricey, there may be some stuff here that might help you help your brother. something I call the Great Tip Over [ http://the-turtles-back.blogspot.com/2009/03/great-awakening-good-luck-and-may-god.html ] might put a burr under his saddle. toward the bottom of the post is an explanation of how that works.

also, the reading list in the sidebar might help you in your understanding and help with some ideas on how to deal with your brother.
the most important thing to remember is: there's nothing WRONG with him. just like everyone else, he is exactly where he needs to be in this moment. all you can really do is to love him as best you can.

I was very interested in this blog at first until I actual started reading it. Flocking towards the equator? Sounds pretty racist to me. And the white man pats himself of the shoulder for flying to Africa and helping all of those infant souled colored folks.

two crows said...

hi, Anon --
I'm sorry you were so offended by this post. That certainly wasn't my intent.

If you didn't simply give up here you might find some surprises further in:
for instance -- Michael said that, during Apartheid [and probably still, I imagine] the vast majority of Blacks in South Africa were Mature Souls while most of the Whites were Youngs. And the reason that chapter of history ended without a bloodbath was that the Matures listened to the Old Soul Desmond Tutu when he counseled against violence.

Every soul age is made up of every race, of course. And every country has souls of every age within it. While souls do tend to cluster with souls of the same age - that is only a generalization.

There are plenty of Infant, Baby and Old souls in the US at the moment even though its average is currently tipping from the Young Soul Age to the Mature.

So, please don't take the generalizations I make here as rules. They aren't. They are simply patterns.

I've met a lot of Infant souls in my life. I don't think everything that is said about them is generally true through my experiance. I can tell when I am dealing with an Infant soul very easily. They have an uncertianty in their temperment. They are like children who do not understand the way the modern world works. I find the company of female infant souls very interesting. I say this because intervention in their lives is a frequent encounter and infant soul males often feel threatened by me(Scorpio placements) and getting through to them is almost impossible but not always.
I do find the company of female infants very refreshing however. They don't come close to understanding my deep insights but at the very least listen to them(more than I can say for young souls). As a matter of fact-they can't seem to really comprehend complicated matters much well but they do listen and actually show interest. My downstairs neighbor(an infant)-I was shocked to learn she had never heard of the holocaust. I find fulfillment in "mentoring" them, especially when it comes to issues that are helpful to them. I don't see them as "bad" people or anything, my neighbor would give the shirt off her back to help people and often frequently gets taken advantage of by... everyone. She has no will to stand up for herself. She doesn't have the organization and planning ability to hold a job-or the drive to look for one. I don't think she is incompetent, I see her as like a kid that needs to be guided through a huge mess of a life she lives. Her oldest-whom is 12, is more mature than she-and is actually the mother figure caring for the children at this time. I try not to judge her but sometimes her ways really piss me off. It seems to be a daily struggle to maintain her pain-pill addiction. She does a very good job however at manipulating people into supporting her habit-I quit letting her borrow money a long time ago. I have come to the point to where I don't know what to do to help anymore. Even if I was in her situation, it's a difficult one to crawl out of.
